1. Are children entitled to their own seats?

For security reasons, two children under the age of two must be accompanied by two adults seated in two different rows. This is because, in case of emergency, each row is equipped with only one extra oxygen mask. The alternative isto pay extra for a seat for one of the children.

After the age of 4 months, infants may travel alone, however it is necessary to reserve the services of an "extra hostess" who will take care of the infant during the flight. The same service, if requested, is provided for children under the age of 4.

Minors between the ages of 4 and 12 are assisted by airport personnel until they board the aircraft at which time, they will be assisted by airline personnel. Unaccompanied minors are boarded before other passengers. The parent/legal guardian must remain in the airport until the flight has taken off.

5. Are special documents required for unaccompanied minors when travelling?
In Italy, unaccompanied minors must have a certificate of birth with a photo which has been issued by the registry office of his home town and validated by the provincial police headquarters.

According to regulations, animals are checked-in as excess baggage and transported in the cargo hold, but in certain situations, they may travel with their owners in the passenger cabin. In any event, it’s always a good idea to check directly with the airline in reference to animal transportation regulations. Some airlines do not allow animals in the cabin while others do not allow animals to be transported in the hold.

2. Under what circumstances are cats and dogs allowed to travel in the cabin?
Small-sized, domestic animals can travel as carry-on luggage on the condition that the animal is placed in a suitably sized, resistant leak-proof, escape-proof carrier equipped with an openings (holes, bars, netting) to ensure sufficient ventilation. Furthermore, the animal must not have an unpleasant odour and the passenger must personally see to the animals needs during the flight. The animal must be secured in the carrier at the time of boarding and must remain in the container for the entire duration of the flight. Dogs may have their heads outside of container as long as they are muzzled and not allowed to get out of the container.

If the passenger provides medical certification of his or her condition, guide dogs for the blind and deaf are transported free-of-charge.

8. Is it necessary to bring the animal’s health records and pet passport?
Passengers travelling with animals must have the animal’s health records and documentation as well as authorisation from the competent authorities in the countries of departure, transit and arrival.

9. What are the health requirements for travelling with animals in the European Union?
Passengers travelling with dogs, cats or ferrets in the European Union must obtain a Community pet passport issued by the veterinarian when the animal receives its rabies inoculation. Animals must have an implanted microchip or clearly readable tattoo. This number is included on the passport and, for microchips, the date of implantation and the exact location of the chip.

10. What if a pet passport has not been obtained for the animal or if it does not have a tattoo or microchip?
Without microchip implants or clearly readable tattoos, animals cannot be accepted on board the aircraft. It is important to check the laws of the destination country regarding the required animal health and identity documents, penalty the animal being denied entry to the country.

The maximum weight for checked baggage may vary according to airline. Generally, for domestic flights, two bags are allowed in addition to carry-on bags.

2. What is the maximum weight allowance for baggage on international flights?
On international flights, the weight allowance depends on the type of ticket purchased and the destination. For checked bags in tourist class, generally a total of 20 kilos is allowed while 30 kilos is allowed in business class. Passengers are recommended to always label both baggage to be checked and carry-on bags clearly indicating the passenger’s name, address and, if possible, flight number.

Carry-on bags must be of a standard size: max 55x40x20 cm; with a maximum weight of 5 Kg (compliance will be verified at the check-in counter).

1.What objects/substances are not allowed on board?
- Arms and ammunition;
- Explosives, fireworks or flares;
- Inflammable, non-inflammable, refrigerant, irritant or poisonous compressed gases (such as butane gas, personal defence, mace or pepper spray, flare or starter guns);
- Inflammable substances (liquid and solid) including alcoholic beverages over 70° proof;
- Infective or poisonous substances;
- Corrosive substances;
- Radioactive substances;
- oxidizing agents:
- magnetizing substances;
- alarm devices;
- underwater torches equipped with batteries;
If any of the objects cited above – or other items deemed impermissible in the discretion of Security personnel – should be found during security searches (on the passenger or in carry-on bags), the passenger will be obliged to surrender the object and leave it in a special container located near the security check-points.
